  WHAT IS DOCUMENT IMAGING?

Document Imaging is the process of scanning documents and converting them into digital images.  Document imaging can be in the form of microfilm, on demand printers, facsimile machines, copiers, or document scanners.

Scanned documents are converted into various file formats such as TIFF (Tagged Image File Format), or PDF (Portable Document Format) and stored on a computer drive, portable drive or variety of other external media such as CDs or DVDs.

Document Imaging provides a safe, efficient method of backing up documents for storage or disaster recovery in the office, off-site or online.  Scanned images can be easily faxed, emailed or reprinted as needed.

WHY USE DOCUMENT IMAGING?

Increased Productivity:

Document imaging can help make your business more productive by bringing the world of online and paper together.  Scanned documents eliminate the need for paper copies  You can work with a scanned document as easily as other documents on your computer.   Scanned documents can be easily sent by email or fax inside or outside your office.

Save on Storage:

Scanned documents can be stored on your computer or on CDs or DVDs or other magnetic storage thus saving thousands of dollars a year in paper costs, storage space and employee hours spent retrieving paperwork from filing cabinets.

Disaster Recovery:

The vital records that make up the information and knowledge of an organization need to be kept secure.  Fires, floods, earthquakes or other natural disasters can wipe out a business in the blink of an eye.  Duplicate records kept in a secure off-site location can help rebuild a business from scratch even if the entire computer system has been destroyed.
